Description: Wiehle (1956: 119, figs 204–206), Lee & Merrett (2001: 10, figs 1–8), Bosmans (2006a: 138, figs 41–45).

Previous records: Aveiro: Ovar, Esmoriz ( Machado 1941). Braga: Peneda-Gerês NP, Terras de Bouro, Mata da Albergaria ( Cardoso et al. 2008b) .

New records: Bragança: Douro Internacional NP, Miranda do Douro, Vila Chã da Braciosa , 5 males 1 female, 7.II.2001, 1 male 1 female, 31.V.2001 (CPC). Beja: Mértola, 2 males, 2004, S. Mendes leg. (IMAR). Castelo Branco: Covilhã, Serra da Estrela (CBM). Coimbra: Coimbra (CBM); Paúl de Arzila NR, 1 male, 11.V.2008, L. Crespo et al. leg. (CLC). Faro: Vila do Bispo , Cabo de S. Vicente, 1 female, 14.IV.1982 (CJFM). Lisboa: Lisboa, Monsanto, 1 male 2.IV.2005, 1 male 13.IV.2008, A. Rebelo leg. ( CAR). Portalegre: Nisa, 4 males, 28.V.2005, A. Rufino leg. (IMAR). Porto: Valongo, S. Pedro da Cova (CBM). Viana do Castelo: Paredes de Coura (CBM) .

Distribution: Palearctic.

Habitat type: The species occurs in many different habitat types, often influenced by man. It lives in the litter layer, but dispersing males are often collected by beating trees.

Phenology: In Portugal adult specimens were collected from February to May.
