Type locality. Germany: Bergedorf.
Distribution. This is the most frequent Dichogaster species spread widely over warm and temperate zones with substantial human involvement. It has a large list of synonyms, completely record by Csuzdi (1996, 2000, 2010: 133). This species is also known from the sewage systems, noted in many European countries ( Rota & Schmidt 2006; Csuzdi et al. 2008). In RSA: Recorded from numerous localities in three neighbouring provinces. KZN: Pietermaritzburg: various greens, parks and gardens in the town; Town Bush Valley; Sunnyside; Scottsville; Ashburton. Merrivale, Arden Farm. Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve. Cultivated and used land for experimental study: Cedara Agriculture College; Baynesfield; Eshowe citrus field, sugar cane and kikuyu grass. Greytown, vermicomposting farm. Ten records noted from natural habitats: Skyline Nature Reserve; Bluff Nature Reserve; Ngome Forest; Mvutshini river Valley; Karkloof Nature Reserve, Safari World; Karkloof Nature Reserve. MP: Witbank. LP: Entabeni State Forest; Soutpansberg; Northern Transvaal. Data taken from literature and NMSAD.
Remarks. Syntypes ZMH V-285. One of the most frequent Dichogaster species in South African cultivated land, occurring also abundantly in the natural protected areas.
