Type locality. Zanzibar: Quilimane.
Distribution. Species occurs widely in various parts of the world; recorded from greenhouses in the cold-temperate regions, may spread widely over warm and temperate zones with substantial human involvement. Known under numerous synonyms fully recorded by Csuzdi (2010: 194).
In RSA knwn from three distant sites, in two provinces. KZN: Durban, Stamford Hill Rd. and Pietermaritzburg, Sunnyside. LP: Soutpansberg Mountain range: few samples.
Remarks. Syntypes ZMH V-303. In RSA material no synonyms are noted.
