Wiedemannia (Wiedemannia) braueri (Mik) View in CoL

( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 )

Clinocera braueri Mik, 1880: 352 View in CoL .

Material examined. RUSSIA: Krasnodarskiy Territory, env. Guamka (3), 21.v.2015, D. Zherebilo (1 ♂, 5 ♀). GEORGIA: Mingrelia, Env. Doberazeni (28), 2.v.2014, D. Zherebilo (1 ♂).

Diagnosis. Wiedemannia braueri differs by a wide gena (more than 1/2 of eye height) acrostichals divergent around the prescutellar depression, 5–6 pairs of dorsocentrals with interspersed shorter setae, olive-brown scutum with slightly bluish prescutellar depression, postpronotal lobe and lower margin of notopleuron lighter, fore femur without strong anterior setae apically; pterostigma rounded, very large and distinct; clasping cercus divided with anterior and posterior lobes long and digitiform, clothed in long setae; mid lobe broad and short, rather mittenshaped.

Distribution. PALAEARCTIC: Europe: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italian mainland, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine; Caucasus: Russia (Krasnodarskiy Territory), Georgia.

Remarks. Joost (1981) first reported this species from the Caucasus, collected from the Sochi River ( Russia, Krasnodarskiy Territory). In the Catalogue of Palaearctic Diptera ( Chvála & Wagner 1989) , this species was mistakenly noted only from the territory of Georgia. Therefore W. braueri is noted from the territory of Georgia for the first time. The uncommonly collected species is known from foothill rivers from elevations between 0–450 m a.s.l. and is active in May to June.
