Distribution: Northeastern USA, with Iowa forming part of the southwestern border. Habitat preferences are generally standing waters, although all collections recorded in Iowa occurred in small to midsized streams.

Distribution: Primarily eastern USA, extending from Massachusetts in the north to Florida in the south and west to Texas in the south and Minnesota in the north. Iowa forms part of the western border of its distribution. New state record .

Distribution: Northern transcontinental in the USA, with Iowa forming part of the southern border. This species’ habitat preference is shallow, often temporary ponds and marshes. The Iowa stream collection sites were small flowing streams with coarse substrate and sand mix.
Coelambus laccophilinus (LeConte) . Mitchell: Deer Cr., Carpenter, CTH, 8/25/08. Distribution: Northeastern USA. Iowa forms part of southwestern edge of the species’ distribution. Its habitat preference is small, but permanent, ponds, especially among emergent grasses and sedges on the margins. The Iowa collection site is a wooded, cobbled flowing stream, but has areas with slow velocity and aquatic vegetation. New state record .

Distribution: Northeastern USA, extending west to Montana in the north, although Iowa forms the southwestern border. Its habitat preference is emergent zones within permanent ponds, usually in areas with deciduous forests .
Graphoderus liberus (Say) . Dickinson: Freda Haffner Kettlehole, Milford, MTF, 7/24/07; Johnson: Ciha Fen, Sutliff, CTH, 4/17/17; Story: ( Wickham 1911); Winnebago: Private Wetland, Forest City, MTF, 7/18/07. Distribution: Primarily eastern USA, east of the Great
Plains, although there are Pacific Northwest records. Its habitat preference is boggy ponds and lakes.

Distribution: Northcentral USA, with localized populations only collected from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa in the USA, thus Iowa forms the southern border. Its habitat preference is large sedge and cattail marshes/ponds.

Specimens have been collected from grassy vegetation overhanging streams in Texas to temporary ponds in Kansas. Iowa is on the northern edge of its distribution. New state record .

Distribution: Eastern USA, exclusive of the bottom tier of southern states. Iowa is on the northwestern edge of its distribution with collections only from the northeastern quarter of the state.
