TYPE LOCALITY: Ecuador, Napo-Pastaza Prov., Paramo de Papallacta .

DISTRIBUTION: Andes of Colombia and Ecuador.

COMMENT: Formerly included mephistophiles of Matschie and Sanborn (not DeWinton), which was described by Hershkovitz, 1959, Proc. Biol. Soc. Wash., 72:45-54, as Mazama chunyi .
