TYPE LOCALITY: Bolivia, La Paz, Cocopunco, 3200 m .
DISTRIBUTION: Bolivian Andes; S. Peru.
COMMENT: Prior to 1959 this species was known as Pudu mephistophiles (De Winton, 1896) ; see comment under that species.
