TYPE LOCALITY: Sudan, Haraza, "probably Kordofan."
DISTRIBUTION: Mauritania to Ethiopia; formerly Egypt to Tunisia.
COMMENT: Includes tao; see Ansell, 1972, Part 15:48. The name algazel Oken, 1816, has been declared invalid in Opinion 417 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature.
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as O. (tao) darnmah.
