TYPE LOCALITY: Lower Egypt .
DISTRIBUTION: Morocco to Egypt and N. Somalia; Sinai; Arabia; Israel; possibly Syria and W. Iraq; E. Iran to C. India.
COMMENT: Includes bennetti; see Corbet, 1978:209. Includes pelzelni; see Gentry, 1972, Part 15.1:89; but also see Haltenorth, 1963:112. Numbers and range much reduced (RGVG).
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix III ( Tunisia) as G. dorcas . U.S. ESA - Endangered as G. d. massaesyla subspecies only. U.S. ESA - Endangered as G. d. pelzelni subspecies only. U.S. ESA - Endangered as G. d. saudiya subspecies only.
