Genus Lonchaea

1. Small species wing length 3.0– 3.2mm, two pairs of dorsocentral setae, scutellum usually bare between apical setae ( Lonchaea impressifrons species-group). Male terminalia, epandrium broad and rather globose in ventral view ( Figs. 45 & 46 )............................................................................................. Lonchaea arrogata

- Larger species, wing length 4–4.5mm, one pair of dorsocentral setae, scutellum usually with setulae between apical setae.. 2

2. Wing membrane clear. Male terminalia: posteroventral projection of surstylus broadly rounded, phallus with apical section long and sinuous, almost 4x as long as basal section ( Figs. 39–41 ).................................... Lonchaea enderleini

- Wing with apex darkened. Male terminalia: posteroventral projection of surstylus cusp-shaped, phallus hook-shaped, not long and sinuous ( Figs. 42–44 )................................................................ Lonchaea togoensis
