ALOPIIDAE (THRESHER SHARKS) View in CoL View at ENA
Two species were assessed, namely Alopias pelagicus and Alopias superciliosus . They exhibited a betweengroup mean distance of 12.35 ± 1.12%. Naylor et al. (2012) reported a cluster with two weak sub-clusters for A. pelagicus , one sub-cluster consisting of samples from the western Pacific and Indian oceans, and the other consisting of specimens from the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific oceans. Specimens from the present study clustered with the former. No subclustering was observed within A. superciliosus by Naylor et al. (2012), and the addition of the present specimens did not alter this assessment.
