Distribution.? China (Xizang), India and Bangladesh.

Remarks. Kraepelin (1913) recorded Chaerilus pictus Pocock, 1890 for the first time from Xizang, China. He cited one male from Daphla Hills in Tibet (today XizangChina) which we did not examine. Recently, Qi, Zhu & Loureno (2005) re-recorded C. pictus Pocock on the basis of 8 female specimens from Xizang, China. After consulting the works of Tikader & Bastawade (1983) and Kovak (2000), the present authors have reconsidered the identification made by Qi et al.(2005) and now believe that their description of C. pictus to be a misidentification.
