Diplosynapsis halterata Enderlein, 1914 View in CoL
( Figs. 49–53 View FIGURES 49 – 53 )
Diplosynapsis halterata Enderlein, 1914: 260 View in CoL ; Hull, 1962: 479; Martin & Papavero 1970: 70 (catalogue); Artigas & Papavero, 1997: 70; Papavero, 2009: 17 (catalogue).
Comments. The only known specimen of D. halterata is from Colombia (Caldas) ( Enderlein 1914; Papavero 2009). The type specimen was deposited in the Stettiner Zoologisches Museum. According to Papavero (2009), the same is deposited at IZPAN. However, according to T. Huflejt (in litt.), there is only one type-specimen in that collection, determined by Enderlein as Diplosynapsis flavihalterata ( Figs. 49–53 View FIGURES 49 – 53 ). Although with different names, the label data correspond to the data presented in the original description of D. halterata . So, it is plausible that D. flavihalterata corresponds to the holotype of D. halterata .
According to Enderlein (1914), D. halterata has a yellow abdomen, black laterally, tergites and sternites 6 and 7 without a silvery shine and yellow halters. In the pictures available for study, it is noticeable that the tergites 2–4 are black and tergite 5 and basal 3/4 of tergite 6 are brown. Moreover, the apical 1/4 of tergite 6 and 7 have silver tomentum, although dull ( Figs. 49, 52 View FIGURES 49 – 53 ).
Distribution. Colombia (Caldas) ( Fig. 76 View FIGURE 76 ).
