35. Scolia (Discolia) formosicola Betrem, 1928 re-instated
Scolia formosicola Betrem, 1928: 305 , ♀, China (holotype in RMNH, Leiden, [examined]); Betrem, 1941: 133; Gupta & Jonathan, 2003: 198.
Scolia oculata formosicola: Osten, 2005: 39 .
Distribution. China (Fujian, Zhejiang, Taiwan); India, Mayanmar and Thailand.
Notes. We re-instate Scolia (Discolia) formosicola Betrem, 1928 , as a valid species; it is distinctly different from the similar S. oculata by the following: the dorso-median area of the propodeum is strongly and densely punctate (only superficially and sparsely punctate in S. oculata ); vertex and frons with dense coarse punctation (largely smooth, without large punctures in S. oculata ); and median groove of frons distinct (median groove of frons indistinct in S. oculata ).
