Material examined: 1 male (BDN 10711), CHINA: Yunnan Province, Lijiang County, Reservoir near Aggie (26º52'N, 100º14'E), 2400m, 28. v. 1996. Leg. X.H. Wang.

Diagnostic characters: Anal tergite with lateral teeth and with 2 groups of median tergite setae. Anal tergite bands V­shaped, short and ending at level of median tergite setae. Superior volsella nearly square and with concave anterior and median margins. Digitus bent and abruptly narrowed in middle, tapering to pointed apex.

Male imago (n = 1)

Total length 3.28 mm; wing length 1.84 mm. Total length/wing length 1.78; wing length/length of profemur 2.37. Ground coloration yellowish green, with separated brown vittae on thorax. Antenna brown. Abdomen and legs yellowish green.

Head: Frontal tubercles cylindrical, 12 µm long. AR 1.19. Ultimate flagellomere 570 µm long. Temporal setae 11, including 5 inner verticals, 2 outer verticals, and 4 postorbitals. Clypeus with 18 setae. Tentorium 110 µm long, 25 µm wide. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 26, 36, 112, 122, 210.

Wing: VR 1.08, Cu 820 µm long.

Thorax. Acrostichals 20, dorsocentrals 8, scutellars 2, prealars absent.

Legs: Front tibial spur 17 µm long. Spurs of middle tibia 22 and 20 µm, of hind tibia 24 and 22 µm long. Combs of middle tibia composed of 14 teeth, of hind tibia composed of 16 and 12 teeth. Lengths (in µm) and proportions of legs are given in Table 1.

Hypopygium ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 4. 1 ): Anal tergite with well developed lateral teeth and 7 setae in 2 groups on medial area; each group of 3 or 4 setae. Anal tergite bands V­shaped, narrowly separated in middle, ending by median tergite setae. Anal point broad, 28 µm long, with pair of long anal crests and 7 basal setae, 2 on anal crests and 2 or 3 laterally. Phallapodeme 70 µm long. Transverse sternapodeme 34 µm long, with oral projections. Gonocoxite 124 µm long. Superior volsella roughly square, anterior and median margin concave, with 3 or 4 dorsal and 3 inner surface setae, and 1 seta at base arising on ventral side. Digitus crooked near middle and tapered to pointed apex. Median volsella 40 µm long, lateral margin without lamellae, inner margin with about 4–6 lamellae and apical half with bundles of lamellae at 90º to stem of volsella. Inferior volsella 80 µm long, distal part divided into 2 rounded lobes and with about 13 apical setae. Gonostylus 130 µm long. HR 0.95; HV 2.52.

Distribution: The species is known from the Holarctic and Oriental Regions (Yunnan Province).
