Pyronia cecilia (Vallantin, 1894) View in CoL
—Reported only by Bretherton (1973) in the vicinity of Kotor. The species has never been confirmed from this area, and Bretherton himself commented that the observed specimens were not typical in their appearance; possibly they were mistaken with the brightly marked race of Pyronia tithonus that inhabits the Balkans. Additionally, Cribb (1973), who collected together with Bretherton during the same trip, did not mention P. cecilia in his separate list. The species is, however, present and widespread along the Adriatic coast in adjacent Croatia and Albania ( Šašić & Mihoci 2011; Verovnik & Popović 2013). The species is retained in the list but is in need of confirmation.
