Ecology. Epi-endogeic species (Valchovski 2012) found in forest soils, cultivated soils, meadows and along stream and river banks (Milutinović et al. 2010).
Distribution in Montenegro. Northern Montenegro: Žabljak (Karaman & Stojanović 1995), Barno jezero, Kanjon Sušice, Gornja Počivala, Tepca, Aluge (Mršić 1990): southern Montenegro: Kukovičak, Titograd, Ribnica (Šapkarev 1975; Mršić 1991); eastern Montenegro: Bijelo Polje (Šapkarev 1975; Mršić 1991; Karaman & Stojanović 1995), Biogradska Gora Mt., Bjelasica Mt. (Stojanović & Karaman 2003), Biševo, Rožaj (Šapkarev 1975; Mršić 1991).
Zoogeographical distribution type. A widely introduced peregrine species, native to the Palearctic (Csuzdi et al. 2011).
