Melissodes (Melissodes) tessellatus LaBerge, 1956 View in CoL
[ Holotype: SEMC; ♂ Idyllwild , California, USA; August 3, 1935]
This species is possibly the most abundant Melissodes species in the BCP. M. tessellatus is distributed along the western coast of North America. It has been documented in nearly all ecoregions across the three provinces within the BCP. Based on our own data from the peninsula, its flight season spans from March to November. We reviewed 19 specimens (CASC) and collected 146 specimens (101 ♀, 45 ♂) in 2019, 2020, and 2021 (Supplementary material 1). See fig. 112.
