Xenoglossa (Peponapis) timberlakei ( Hurd & Linsley, 1964)
[Holotype: CASC; ♂ 3.22 km southwest of Palo Verde, Imperial County, California, USA; July 16, 1962] Xenoglossa timberlakei was reported in BC by Hurd and Linsley (1966) in Mexicali Valley. This species specializes on the pollen from squash plants in the genus Cucurbita View in CoL L. ( Hurd & Linsley 1964). It is likely that the record published by Hurd & Linsley (1996) was also collected from a Cucurbita View in CoL crop, as the Mexicali Valley has a long history of farming, including crops of Cucurbita View in CoL . Additionally, the BBPT recorded it in the Coastal Sage Matorral in Valle de Guadalupe, and Maneadero, and Chaparral in Real del Castillo in Cucurbita pepo View in CoL crops. Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 118.
