[ Lectotype: NHRS; ♀ USA; Bombus (Thoracobombus) pensylvanicus sonorus Say, 1837 holotype: Tomas Say collection; ☿ Mexico]

The individuals of this species in the Baja California Peninsula exhibit the coloration pattern of Bombus pensylvanicus sonorus , as described by Williams et al. (2014). This is the only bumble bee species found in BCS, where it is found in all ecoregions. In BC, it has been recorded in the Central Desert and the Coastal Sage Matorral with specimens in BBSL, EMEC, INHS, LACM, SEMC, and UCRC ( GBIF 2023). We review 73 specimens from BCS (CASC). The BBPT collected six females in the Gulf Coast region, BCS in September and November 2020 (3 ♀ MABC; 3 ♀ ECOAB). However, we are aware of recent sightings of Bombus p. sonorus in San Diego County near the border with BC ( Hung et al. 2015) as well as 28 observations on iNaturalist at the time of this writing (https://www. inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=7403,8501&subview=map&taxon_id=57690). See fig. 85.
