Bombus melanopygus is an early-flying species and has been documented in the Coastal Sage Matorral, Chaparral, and Baja California Mountains confirmed by specimens vouchered at CASC, EMEC, UCDC, UCRC, and SDNHM ( GBIF 2023 View Materials ). The BBPT collected specimens in Coastal Sage Matorral and Chaparral ecoregions with 68 specimens (45 ♂, 23 ♀) in May, June, and September 2020; April and May 2021; and May 2023. Voucher specimens are in MABC and ECOAB (Supplementary material 1). See fig. 84.
