Genus Brachymelecta Linsley, 1939 View in CoL
We recognize the former genera Xeromelecta Linsley, 1939 under Brachymelecta as in Onuferko et al. (2021). Brachymelecta californica ( Cresson, 1878)
[ Lectotype: ANSP; ♂ California, USA]
Brachymelecta californica has been reported across all regions of the CFP within the BCP. Outside of the CFP, it has been documented in the Lower Colorado Desert, Magdalena Plains and Cape Mountains ( Onuferko et al. 2021; GBIF 2023). We reviewed 11 specimens collected in the Cape Mountains (7♂, 2 ♀), Tropical Dry Forest (1 ♂), and Magdalena Plains (1 ♂) (CASC). Additionally, the BBPT collected 19 specimens (13 ♂, 6 ♀) in the Coastal Sage Matorral, Succulent Coastal Matorral, Chaparral, and Baja California Mountains (Supplementary material 1). Voucher specimens are in MABC (7 ♂, 3 ♀), and ECOAB (6 ♂, 3 ♀). See fig. 139.
