[ Type: ♂ Las Cruces , New Mexico, USA; August 23, 1897]
This species is widely distributed in the xeric regions of North America and specializes on pollen from a broad variety of late-blooming shrubs in the family Asteraceae ( Fowler 2020) . We reviewed specimens collected in Vizcaíno Desert in October 2014 (5 ♀), La Giganta Ranges in October 1997 (1 ♂), and the Sarcocaulescent Shrubland in November 2016 (2 ♀; BBSL). Additionally, the BBPT collected one male in the Coastal Sage Matorral in June 2020 (MABC). See fig. 218.
