Genus Lithurgopsis Fox, 1902 View in CoL
Bees in this genus collect pollen exclusively from plants in the family Cactaceae ( Michener 2007) . Lithurgopsis apicalis (Cresson, 1875)
[ Lectotype: ANSP; ♀ Colorado, USA]
Lithurgopsis apicalis is the more abundant of the two species in this genus found in the BCP. There are preserved specimen records of this species at BBSL from the Magdalena Plains collected in July 1988 and Chaparral in May 1989 ( GBIF 2023). We examined three males collected in the Baja California Mountains in Sierra Juarez in July 1980, Tropical Dry Forest in March 1986 ( BBSL), and the Central Desert in March 2014 ( CNIN). Additionally, the BBPT collected nine specimens in Coastal Sage Matorral (1 ♀, 1 ♂), Succulent Coastal Matorral (2 ♀), and in the Baja California Mountains in May 2022 (5 ♂). Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 193 .
