[ Syntypes: USNM; ♂ Indio sands, Coachella Valley, California, USA; March 19, 1917]

Hesperapis arenicola View in CoL occurs in the southwestern USA and northwestern Mexico and specializes on pollen from plants in the Asteraceae View in CoL including Chaenactis DC. View in CoL and Encelia Adans. ( Fowler 2020) View in CoL . Within the BCP, there are preserved specimen records in the Lower Colorado Desert by AMNH, Succulent Coastal Sage by BBSL, and Magdalena Plains by SEMC ( GBIF 2023). We reviewed specimens collected in the Coastal Sage Matorral in March 1973 (2 ♂), Succulent Coastal Matorral in March 1960 (3 ♂), and March 1973 (1 ♀); and Central Desert in April 2008 (3 ♀; MABC). The CARCIB team also collected this species in the Central Desert in October 2016 (1 ♀, 1 ♂), and Vizcaíno Desert June (1 ♂), July (1 ♂), October (1 ♂), and November (1 ♂) 2017. See fig. 271.
