Hoplitis semirubra specializes on pollen from Cryptantha Lehm. ex G. Don ( Boraginaceae ) ( Fowler 2020). This species is abundant in the CFP in BC. We reviewed one specimen collected in Chaparral in May 1985 (1 ♂; SDNHM). Additionally, the BBPT collected this species in Coastal Sage Matorral in April (1 ♀), and May 2022 (2 ♀), and April 2023 (1 ♀); Chaparral in May 2021 (1 ♀), April (1 ♂), and May 2022 (2 ♂, 1 ♀), and April 2023 (4 ♀); and Succulent Coastal Sage in April 2023 (1 ♀). Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 254.
