[ Type: USNM; ♂ Mesilla Valley , New Mexico, USA; April 20, 1896]

Hoplitis biscutellae View in CoL is restricted to deserts and specializes on pollen from Larrea tridentata (DC.) Coville ( Fowler 2020) View in CoL . This species represents a new species record in the BCP. We examined specimens collected in the Lower Colorado Desert in April 1939 (1 ♂) and April 1965 (1 ♀; CASC). Additionally, the BBPT collected this species in the Central Desert (15 ♂, 1 ♀), Gulf Coast (2 ♂), and Magdalena Plains in March 2021 (1 ♂). Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 249 .
