Megchile subnigra specializes on pollen from several plants in the family Asteraceae ( Fowler 2020) View in CoL . This represents a new species record for Mexico. The BBPT collected this species in the Coastal Sage Matorral in May (1 ♂), June 2020 (1 ♂), March 2021 (1 ♂), April (1 ♀), and May 2022 (1 ♂); and Baja California Mountains in La Rumorosa in May 2022 (2 ♂). Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 228 .
