Distribution: Palearctic. Austria, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia (European part, E. Russia), Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. ( England, Scotland, Wales), Ukraine.

Larval host plant(s): Carex digitata L., C. ericetorum Pollich , C. flacca Schreber , C. humilis Leysser , C. ornithopoda Willd. , C. pilosa Scop. (Cyperaceae) ( Stainton 1858a; E.M. Hering 1951; Wörz 1957). There are also records from Poaceae that require verification.
