Description:—See Hiratsuka et al. (1992).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:—0, I on Smilax china L. (Hon, Shi, Kyu, Ryu); II, III on Carex blepharicarpa Franch. (Hon) ( Ito & Murayama 1949, Hiratsuka 1960, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:—Life cycle of this species was proved by Ito & Murayama (1949) and Hiratsuka and Sato (1951) ( Hiratsuka et al. 1984). Taxonomic relationship of this species with Aecidium smilacis-chinae Sawada reported in Taiwan by Sawada (1943) should be examined.
