Basionym:— Aecidium adenocauli Syd. & P. Syd.

Heterotypic synonym:— Puccinia carici-adenocauli Kakish., Yokoi & Y. Harada

Type:— Neotype in TSH (R1689). Epitype in HMJAU (8275).

Description:—See Kakishima et al. (1999) and Ji et al. (2017).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:—0, I on Adenocaulon himalaicum Edgew. (= A. bicolor Hook. ) (Hok, Hon); II, III on Carex hakonensis Franch. & Sav. (Hok, Hon), C. uda Maxim. (Hok) ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Kakishima et al. 1999, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:—Life cycle of this species was proved by Kakishima et al. (1999) and Ji et al. (2017). Aecidium adenocauli is the legitimate earliest name of this species. Therefore, a new combination, Puccinia adenocauli , based on this anamorphic species name, was proposed under the ICNafp Shenzhen Code ( Turland et al. 2018) by Ji et al. (2017). This species has been reported from China, Korea and Russian Far East ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1963, Azbukina 2005, Ji et al. 2017).
