Puccinia hyalina Dietel

Type:— Lectotype is selected from specimens in TNS, used in original description by Dietel (1906) and designated here; II, III on Carex sp. , Japan, Kochi Prefecture. Mt. Yanaze , October 1904, T. Yoshinaga TNS-F191541, MBT10021416. Paratypes in S (F32371-32374) and TNS (F114233,114697, 188500) .

Description:—See Hiratsuka et al. (1992).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:— II, III on Carex siderosticta Hance (Hon, Shi, Kyu) ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:—Uredinial stage of this species is morphologically different from Uredo hyalina Dietel ( Ito & Homma 1938). This species has been reported from China and Taiwan ( Tai 1979, Zhuang et al. 1998, Kuo & Chen 1999). Puccinia subhyalina Tranzschel has been reported on C. siderosticta from China and Russian Far East ( Zhuang et al. 1998, Azbukina 2005). Taxonomic relationship of this species with P. hyalina needs to be confirmed.
