Type:— Lectotype is selected from specimens in SAPA, used for original description by Ito & Homma (1938) and designated here; III on Carex maximowiczii Miq. var. maximowiczii , Japan, Gifu Prefecture, Kawakami , April 1912, K. Hara, SAPA24001, [MBT10021336]. Epitype is selected from specimens in SAPA because of no uredinial stage in the lectotype and designated here ; II on C. maximowiczii var. maximowiczii , Japan, Niigata Prefecture, Nagaoka , July 1912, K. Yoshino, SAPA24002, [MBT10021337] .
Description:—See Hiratsuka et al. (1992).
Hosts and distribution in Japan:— II, III on Carex maximowiczii Miq. var. maximowiczii (Hok, Hon) ( Ito & Homma 1938, Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).
Notes:—This species has been recorded in northern Japan.
