Puccinia caricis-molliculae Syd. & P. Syd.

Type:— Holotype in S (F29385); II, III on Carex mollicula Boott , Japan, Hokkaido, Sapporo-shi , Jozankei. 17 October 1909, M. Miura.

Description:—See Hiratsuka et al. (1992).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:—0, I on Urtica platyphylla Wedd. (= U. takedana Ohwi ) (host by inoculations); II, III on Carex dispalata Boott (Hok, Hon), C. mollicula Boott (Hok, Hon, Kyu), C. rhyrtchophysa C.A.Mey. [= C. laevirostris (Fr.) Blytt & Fr. ] (Hok), C. vesicaria L. (Hok) ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:— Ito (1950) recorded spermogonial and aecial stages on Urtica takedana as the result of inoculations. This species has been reported from China and Russian Far East ( Ito 1950, Zhuang et al. 1998, Azbukina 2005).
