Heterotypic synonym:— Puccinia seijoensis Hirats. f. & S. Sato, Scientific Bull. Agric. Home Econ. & Eng. Div., Univ. Ryukyus 7: 270, 1960 [MB337993].

Epitype specimen is designated here because the morphology of uredinial and telial stage is important characters to specify this species: II, III on Carex conica Boott , Japan, Tokyo, Meguro-ku, Komaba, 10 February 1955, HH67492, Holotype of Puccinia seijoensis , [MBT10021457].
Description:—See description of Puccinia seijoensis by Hiratsuka et al. (1992).
Hosts and distribution in Japan:—0, I on Pertya glabrescens Sch. -Bip.(Hon, Shi, Kyu), P.robusta (Maxim.) Makino (Hon), P. scandens (Thunb.) Sch. -Bip. (Hon, Shi, Kyu); II, III on Carex conica Boott var. conic a (= C. okushiriensis Akiyama ) (Hon) ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Kakishima & Sato 1980b, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).
Notes:—Life cycle of this species was proved by Sato (1956) and Kakishima & Sato (1980b) ( Hiratsuka et al. 1984). Aecidium pertyae is the legitimate earliest name of this species. Therefore, a new combination name, based on this anamorphic species name, Puccinia pertyae , is proposed under the ICNafp Shenzhen Code ( Turland et al. 2018).
