Puccinia lysimachiae-japonicae (Dietel) Kakish., Jing X. Ji, K. Hosaka & Hosoya , comb. nov.

MycoBank: 854817.

Basionym:— Aecidium lysimachiae-japonicae Dietel, Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 34: 590, 1905 [MB154312].

Heterotypic synonym:— Puccinia caricis-fediae Y. Harada, Transactions of the Mycological Society of Japan 27: 364, 1986 [MB131616].

Type:— Lectotype is selected from specimens in TNS and designated here; 0, I on Lysimachia japonica Thunb. , Japan, Aomori Prefecture, Shichinohe, 5 June 1903 by N. Nambu, TNS-F100921, [MBT10021354]. Paratype in TNS (F100355). Epitype specimen is designated here because the morphology of uredinial and telial stage is important characters to specify this species: II, III on Carex miyabei Franch. [= C. fedia var. miyabei (Franch.) T. Koyama , C. wallichiana var. miyabei (Franch.) Kük. ], Japan, Aomori Prefecture, Hirosaki-shi, 14 August 1981, Obtained by inoculation, Y. Harada, HHUF11690, Holotype of Puccinia caricis-fediae , [MBT10021346].

Description:—See Harada (1986) and Hiratsuka et al. (1992).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:—0, I on Lysimachia japonica Thunb. (Hon); II, III on Carex miyabei Franch. [= C. fedia var. miyabei (Franch.) T. Koyama , C. wallichiana var. miyabei (Franch.) Kük. ] (Hon) ( Harada 1986, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:—Life cycle of this species was proved by Harada (1986). Aecidium lysimachiae-japonicae is the legitimate earliest name of this species. Therefore, a new combination name, based on this anamorphic species name, Puccinia lysimachiae-japonicae , is proposed under the ICNafp Shenzhen Code ( Turland et al. 2018).
