Cisthene bisigna Berg, 1875: 75 View in CoL .
Current identity. Cisthene bisigna Berg, 1875 View in CoL
Type Material. Male holotype. Type material possibly lost or destroyed.
Type locality and label information. [ Argentina, BuenosAires, Muro del fuerte del Carm[en].[de] Patag[ones]].; [Typus]; [6.XII.1874]; [col. Berg]. (Information of locality from original description only).
MACN. The type material of this species was not found in MACN.
Remarks. The holotype was not found. The female of this species was painted in the catalogue of Hampson (1914: plate XXXV, fig. 28), and the habitus matches with the description of the male holotype.
Cydosia luridipennis Burmeister, 1878: 423 .
Current identity. Progona luridipennis ( Burmeister, 1878)
Type Material. Undisclosed number of syntypes. Type material possibly lost or destroyed.
Type locality and label information. [Córdova, Argentina] (information of locality from original description only) .
MACN. The type material of this species was not found in MACN.
Remarks. Burmeister (1878) commented that the type specimens were from Córdov[b]a and obtained by M. Berg. The habitus of a male was painted in the catalogue of Hampson (1914: plate XXVI, fig. 16).
Hypocrita flaviceps Burmeister, 1878: 425 .
Current identity. Eucyclopera flaviceps ( Burmeister, 1878)
Type Material. Undisclosed number of syntypes. Material possible lost or destroyed.
Type locality and labels information. [ Argentina, Buenos Aires] (information of locality from original description only) .
MACN. The males syntypes were not found at MACN.
Remarks. A syntype was illustrated separately from the original description by the author ( Burmeister 1880: Atlas, XVII, Fig. 16 View FIGURES 13–16 ). The species is not rare in Buenos Aires ( Burmeister 1878).
Hypocrita calochroma Snellen, 1878: 391 ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 25–28 )
Current identity. Cisthene calochroma ( Snellen, 1878) View in CoL
Type Material. Three male syntypes.
Type locality and label information. Label of the possible syntypes: “[ Argentina], Buenos Aires ”; “ Hypocrita Hb. 1816 H.S. ”; “ calochroma Snell [en]. R [epública]. A[rgentina].”; “ SYNTYPE ”; “MACN-En 33536” (new catalogue number of Aurora).
MACN. Two possible syntypes were found at MACN.
Remarks. We cannot confirm if these two specimens are two of the three syntypes used by Snellen (1878) in the original description. Snellen (1878) only commented that this species is common in Córdov[b]a, [ Argentina], but he did not mention if all syntypes are from the same type locality. Hampson (1900) commented that one male type is deposited in Collection Snellen.
Bulbura (sic) dorsisigna freseni Jörgensen, 1935: 103 .
Current identity. Balbura fresini ( Jörgensen, 1935)
Type Material. Male holotype. Material possible lost or destroyed.
Type locality and label information. [ Paraguay, San Bernardino ], [♂], [diciembre, 1935] (information of lo- cality from original description only) .
MACN. The type material of this species was not found in MACN.
Remarks. Jörgensen (1935) commented that the specimen flew in December after emerging from the pupa. For this reason, we presumably consider that the specimen was observed, but not collected. The specimen is similar to the typical form but the color of the head and patagia are different. As there is no genus of Lepidoptera named Bulbura , we considered it as a misspelled name.
Odozana incarnata Jörgensen, 1935: 102 .
Current identity. Odozana incarnata Jörgensen, 1935
Type Material. Undisclosed number of female syntypes, possibly lost or destroyed.
Type locality and label information. [ Paraguay, Villarrica ], [♀], [marzo] (information of locality and sex from original description only) .
MACN. The syntypes were not found at MACN.
Remarks. Jörgensen (1935) did not mention where the type material was deposited. This species is very similar to Odozana patagiata Dognin, 1909 from Bolivia ( Jörgensen 1935). The latter was painted in the catalogue of Hampson (1914: plate XXXV, figure 4).
Cisthene australis Orfila, 1935: 225 View in CoL ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 25–28 )
Current identity. Vianania australis ( Orfila, 1935)
Type Material. Male holotype and a female allotypus (paratype).
Type locality and label information: Male holotype with the following labels: “Sierras de Tandil, [Provincia de] Buenos Aires, [República] Argentina, 7-XII-[1]930; A. Breyer leg[acy].”; “ HOLOTYPUS ”; “ Eudesmia australis n[ew]. sp[ecies]., DET[ermined]. ORFILA; “ Vianania australis ♂ Holotypus Orfila”; “MACN-En 32204” (new catalogue number of Aurora). Female paratype with the following labels: “Sierras de Tandil, [Provincia de] Buenos Aires, [República] Argentina, 7-XII-[1]930, Alb. Breyer leg[acy].”; “ ALLOTYPUS ”; “ Eudesmia australis n[ew]. sp[ecies]., DET[ermined]. ORFILA”; “ PARATYPUS ”; “ Vianania australis ♀ Allotypus Orfila ”; “MACN- En 32205” (new catalogue number of Aurora).
MACN. The holotype is in moderate to bad condition because the antennae and abdomen were dissected. Paratype in similar condition to that of holotype.
Remarks. There are other eight paratypes deposited in the Museo La Plata. All preparations made by Orfila were found at MACN.
Cisthene boliviana Forster, 1942: 41 View in CoL ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 29–30 )
Current identity. Eucyclopera boliviana ( Forster, 1942)
Type Material. Male paratype.
Type locality and label information. Male paratype with the following labels: “Zoolog[ische]. Staatss[amm]l[un]g, BOLIVIA, [Province Sud] Yungas, [Department La Paz], Chulumani, 1500-2000 m [eters], leg[acy]. Schulze”; “Genitales p[reparation]. m. n[umber] 673”; “ PARATYPUS ”; “Para-typus ♂, Cisthene boliviana Forst [er]., W. Forster München”; “MACN-En 33534” (new catalogue number of Aurora).
MACN. A male paratype was found in bad condition without left antenna and abdomen .
Remarks. Surely, Orfila (1954) used this specimen to compare it and describe with the type specimen of Vianania aymara Orfila, 1954 . The preparation made by Orfila was found at MACN. The habitus of this species is very similar to the habitus of some species included in Cisthene Walker, 1854 and Vianania Orfila, 1954 . It is necessary to review these two genera and Eucyclopera Hampson, 1895 .
Vianania aymara Orfila, 1954: 485 ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29–30 )
Current identity. Vianania aymara Orfila, 1954
Type Material. Male holotype and male paratype.
Type locality and label information. Male holotype with the following labels: “ HOLOTYPUS ”; “Coll[ection]. ORFILA”, Bolivia, Cochabamba, 2600 m., Zischka [leg.], 8-I-[19]49”; [♂]; “MACN-En 33535” (new catalogue number of Aurora). Male paratype with the following labels: [Paratypus], [♂], [ Bolivia, Sara] (information of locali- ties from original description only).
MACN. The holotype is in bad condition and the paratype was not found in MACN.
Remarks. Orfila (1954) mentioned that type materials were deposited in his own collection. Surely, Orfila used the Forster’s specimen to compare it and describe with the type specimen of Vianania aymara Orfila, 1954 . The preparations made by Orfila were found at MACN.
