Taxonomy. Oligoryzomys stramineus Bonvicino & Weksler, 1998 View in CoL , Fazenda Vao dos Bois, 24 km north of Terezina, 15 km south-west of Rio Parana, Terezina de Goias, Goias, Brazil.

This species is monotypic.

Descriptive notes. Head-body 70-111 mm, tail 95-134 mm, ear 12-20 mm, hindfoot 23-29 mm. No specific data are available for body weight. The Straw-colored Pygmy Rice Rat is a large species of Oligoryzomys , characterized by pale dorsum with well-defined transition between lateral and whitish ventral pelage, long incisive foramina, and broad zygomatic plates.

Habitat. Primarily gallery forests in Cerrado and Caatinga ecoregions.

Food and Feeding. No information.

Breeding. The Straw-colored Pygmy Rice Rat appears closely associated with precipitation. In Caatinga, reproduction is in the rainy season, but in Cerrado,it appears to be restricted to dry season. Pregnant females were reported with 4-5 embryos.

Activity patterns. No information.

Movements, Home range and Social organization. No information.

Status and Conservation. Classified as Least Concern on The IUCN Red List. The Strawcolored Pygmy Rice Rat is not included in the official list of threatened species of Brazil, presumably due to its distribution over a large part of east-central Brazil.
