Taxonomy. Oryzomys childi Thomas, 1895 , Bogota, Cundinamarca, Colombia.

This species is monotypic.

Descriptive notes. Head-body 120-184 mm, tail 110-194 mm, ear 11-28 mm, hindfoot 28-43 mm; weight 43-86 g. Child’s Rice Rat is medium-sized, with dorsal pelage varying in length and texture geographically; some specimens have dense and short fur, and others have very dense and longer hair; and ventral pelage of some specimens have small white patches in gular region.

Habitat. Andean forests at elevations of 1140-3400 m.
