2. Acianthera angustisepala (Ames & Correll) Pridgeon & Chase (2001: 242) . Pleurothallis angustisepala Ames & Correll (1942: 74) . Holotype:— GUATEMALA. Department Alta Verapaz: above Tamahú, alt. 900 − 1,200 m, 5 April 1939, Standley 70958 (F[995124]!).

Acianthera javieri Archila (2009: 14) syn. nov. Holotype: GUATEMALA: Department of Alta Verapaz, Coban, Tontem Village , 1,400 m, collected in 2000, Archila FA-071 (BIGU[37296]).

Distribution:— Mexico (Chiapas [ Fig. 3 ]), Guatemala, and Belize.

Specimens:— MEXICO. Chiapas: Ocosingo, Laguna Ocotal Grande , 20 July 1954, Dressler 1543 ( AMES! MEXU!) ; Oxchuc, 20 km SW Ocosingo camino a San Cristóbal de las Casas , 1,320 m, 13 October 1986, Martinez et al. 19146 A ( MEXU!), 19148 ( CAS! MEXU!) ; Rayón , 500 m abajo de Rayón, 1,340 m, 10 April 1989, Soto & Martinez 4919 ( AMO!) .

Notes:— Acianthera javieri is only known from the type collected in Guatemala; the description and illustration provided by Archila (2009) does not facilitate discrimination from A. angustisepala ; the different traits that the author described are part of the variation previously described and illustrated for this species ( Ames & Correll 1942, Hágsater & Soto Arenas 2003, Luer 2004).
