Length: 7–14mm (13 specimens).
Collecting period: June, July, October.
Head: Black or red-brown to red, anterior part of clypeus, labrum and palpi brown, posterior part of clypeus dark brown to black; distributed with dense, fine punctation; cranium vested with erect pale and dark setae; head including eyes scarcely broader than anterior width of pronotum.
Antennae: Dark brown, A1 to A4 or A5 light brown, vested with depressed, short pale and dark setae; antennomeres triangularly dilated from A6 onwards, A10 broader than long.
Pronotum: Red-brown to brown; surface finely and irregularly punctate, punctation anterior to transverse depression denser; vested with anteriorly directed erect, short white and longer black setae; length:width ratio 1.09:1 (broadest in middle).
Scutellum: Brown, finely punctate, vested with pale setae.
Elytra: Black, with two yellowish pigmented transverse fasciae (spanning from the lateral margin to midway towards suture), with dense, depressed, pale setae, and a brown macula surrounding the scutellum; humeral callous present; basal third deeply punctate in rows, appearing irregular, near humeral callous only rows 4 to 8 extending almost to posterior fascia, rows 2, 3 and 9 only obscure or terminating shortly behind the anterior fascia, diameter of punctures larger than interstices; apex densely and finely punctate; basal third with erect golden and dark setae, remainder with predominantly posteriorly directed, semi-decumbent, long, dark setae, apex with long, erect, golden setae; length:width ratio 2.01:1.
Legs: Brown to red-brown or black, base frequently paler, with dense, pale, erect and isolated dark setae; hind tibiae with or without carinae.
Ventral surface: Abdomen dark brown to black, thorax brown to red-brown, with dense, depressed, pale setae.
Aedeagus: Tip slightly asymmetrical, with tooth-like structures.
Distribution: Vietnam, Indonesia (Sumatra), Malaysia (Borneo, Sabah, Sarawak).
Differential diagnosis to T. bibalteata : The antennomeres of T. hirsuta are dilated from A6 onwards, in T. bibalteata from A5 onwards; the head of T. hirsuta is unicoloured black, T. bibalteata has at least the posterior part red-brown; the apex of elytra is emarginated in T. hirsuta , not in T. bibalteata .
