Two females bearing the name Pseudodendroides nitidicollis v. sulcatithorax are in the Pic material. [1st ♀]: Siao-Lou-Lou-Chan // Chasseurs Thibétains // 1896; {2 nd label} [handwritten – not entirely legible, looks like]: ex lot de // dedoublement; {3 rd label} [handwritten – not entirely legible, possibly close to]: tête nov // sensibleur // escouvee; {4 th label} [handwritten, presumably in Pic’ s hand]: type; {5 th label} [small, red label]: TYPE; {6 th label} [handwritten, presumably in Pic’ s hand]: v. sulcatithorax // mihi; {7 th label} [label I added]: HOLOTYPE: // Pseudodendroides // nitidicollis ♀ // sulcatithorax Pic // fide D. K. Young // 2014. [2nd ♀]: Mou- Pin // 1897 // ex R. P. Déjean; {2 nd label} [handwritten – not entirely legible, possibly close to]: ex Col de // tête non // sensible ur // excuver; {3 rd label} [handwritten – not entirely legible, possibly close to]: ex defraichi; {4 th label} [handwritten, presumably in Pic’ s hand]: sp.?

At the end of his description of P. nitidicollis, Pic (1955) added, “J’ attribue à cette espèce comme var., sous le nom de sulcatithorax , un ex. de Chine, ayant la tête nettement biimpressionnée entre les yeux, le thorax peu brilliant, muni d’ un sillon longitudinal, finement mais distinctement ponctué”. The description clearly states Pic had but a single specimen: “un ex. de Chine.” This fact, combined with data on the first specimen, in particular label six, offers a strong case for supporting the first specimen as the holotype, and I have labeled it so .

Pseudodendroides nitidicollis sulcatithorax is certainly congeneric with P. niponensis ( Fig. 4 View Figs ), the type species of Pseudodendroides , as can be seen by salient features of the cranial shape, compound eyes, and antennae ( Figs. 7–8 View Figs ). It is neither conspecific with H. nitidicollis nor even congeneric with Himalapyrochroa . Hence, I propose to elevate it to specific rank: Pseudodendroides sulcatithorax Pic , new status
