TYPE LOCALITY: Australia, Wellington Caves (Pleistocene) .
DISTRIBUTION: Australia: Tasmania, perhaps S Victoria, where it is known as a subfossil.
STATUS: Common.
SYNONYMS: dixonae, harrisii , satanicus, ursina .
COMMENTS: Usually called S. harrisii , but see Werdelin (1987:9).
