Mimopodabrus Wittmer, 1997

Mimopodabrus Wittmer, 1997a: 320 .

Type species: Podabrus obscurior Wittmer, 1954 (by original designation).

Body 5.0–8.0 mm, elongate. Eyes moderately or strongly protruding, antennae always show sexual dimorphism, male antennae filiform or thickened or depressed with foveas or impressions on middle antennomeres, female antennae simple filiform. Pronotum subquadrate or slightly narrowed anteriorly. Male tarsal claws bifid or triangular-toothed, female likewise or simple.

Aedeagus: dorsal plates of parameres conjoint and well-developed, apical margin not deeply cleft in middle, median lobe with laterophyses, divided or not.

This genus is similar to Micropodabrus Pic, 1920 , but definitely different in aedeagus, the latter species lacking laterophyses. It also resembles Islamocantharis Wittmer and Magis, 1978 , which has bifid or toothed tarsal claws and aedeagus with laterophyses, but the latter’s appearance is Cantharis -like, body stout, eyes less protruding, pronotum with lateral margins rounded, and narrowed posteriorly.

A key to male adults of Mimopodabrus Wittmer
