Description. Male. Body length (incl. forewing) 7.9–8.0 mm, head width (incl. eyes) 2.4–2.6 mm, pronotum width 3.8–4.1 mm. Body dark brown. Eyes and ocelli black.
Male with 8th sternite slightly concave (Fig. 7). Pygofer side in lateral aspect tapering posteriorly without distal process (Fig. 7). Style slim, apex hook-like (Figs 10, 11). Aedeagus curved dorsally, shaft with one or a pair of asymmetrically placed processes or processes absent (Figs 10, 12, 13–16).
Etymology. The species name refers to the inner edge of pygofer without spines.
Material examined. Holotype ♂, CHINA: Hainan Prov., Mt. Diaoluoshan, 900m, 17 August 2010, Jing Sun. Paratypes. CHINA: Hainan Prov., 1 ♂ (J72), Mt. Diaoluoshan, 900m, 19 August 2010, Jing Sun; 1 ♂ (J15), Mt. Limuling, 17 May 1964, Shengli Liu ( TJNHM); 1 ♂ (J71), Mt. Diaoluoshan, 900m, 19 August 2010, Chaozhong Jiang; 1 ♂ (J14), Mt. Wuzhishan, 640m, 18 May 2007, Yani Duan (all NWAFU except where indicated).
Distribution. China (Hainan).
Remarks. This species differs from the similar D. brunnea Cai & Yang in the absence of the posterior process on each side of the male pygofer and larger size. Both species are similar to the two other Chinese species ( D. nigrofasciata and D. bimaculata ) but these are known only from the female and are therefore of uncertain identity.
There are some minor variations among some specimens, i.e. the dorsal shaft of aedeagus without or with one or two tiny processes subapically (Figs 10, 13–16), the latter condition similar to that in D. brunnea .
