Holotype. LSUHC 5975 View Materials ; “ Phu Quoc National Park , Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province Biosphere Reserve, Vietnam ”.
Diagnosis. Adult males reaching 81.6 mm SVL, adult females reaching 85.8 mm SVL; eight supralabials, 9 or 10 infralabials; 30 or 31 paravertebral tubercles; 18 or 19 longitudinal rows of dorsal tubercles; 40–42 rows of ventral scales; five or six expanded subdigital lamellae proximal to the digital inflection, 12 or 13 unmodified, distal, subdigital lamellae; 17–19 total subdigital lamellae on fourth toe; enlarged femoral and precloacal scales continuous; 27 or 28 enlarged femoral scales; proximal femoral scales less than half the size as distal femorals; six or seven enlarged precloacal scales with pores on each in males; two or three rows of enlarged post-precloacal scales; two or three postcloacal tubercles; interdigital pocketing absent; dark pigmented blotches absent from top of head; posterior border of nuchal loop rounded; and four dark body bands ( Table 15). These characters are scored across all species of the Cyrtodactylus intermedius complex in Table 7.
Remarks. Cyrtodactylus phuquocensis is endemic to Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam ( Ngo et al. 2010) and is the sister species to the remaining taxa in the eastern group from which it bears a sequence difference of 5.4–7.7% ( Table 4).
