TYPE LOCALITY: "from Sierra Madre, near Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua, Mexico (7,000 feet altitude)."

DISTRIBUTION: SW Chihuahua ( Mexico).

COMMENTS: Subgenus Callospermophilus ( Hall, 1981:410) . Gromov et al. (1965:150) considered Callospermophilus a subgenus of the genus Otospermophilus . Reviewed by Best and Thomas (1991 b, Mammalian Species, 378).
