Etymology: —The specific epithet derives from the prefix neo -, meaning new, and multisetosus , the epithet used by Focke (1911).

Note:—According to Art. 53.1 of the ICN, Rubus vicarius Focke ex Sargent (1911: 56) is an illegitimate later homonym of R. vicarius Sudre (1902: 12) . A new replacement name, Rubus neovicarius M. Idrees , is therefore proposed here.
