Rhodacaroides Willmann View in CoL (10 described species)
Movable and fixed cheliceral digits with 3–7 and 4–16 teeth, respectively. Epistome with an anteromedian extension wider at base, flanked or not by a pair of anterolateral extensions, shorter than anteromedian extension. Seta h 3 about in longitudinal line with h 1 and in transverse line or anterior and mediad to h 2. Idiosoma elongate, 300–670 µm long and 160–400 µm wide at widest level. Podonotal and opisthonotal shields separated. Dorsal idiosomal setae aciculate and smooth. Podonotal region of dorsum with 17–23 pairs of setae, of which 17–23 pairs on podonotal shield and 0–5 pairs on soft integument along lateral margins of podonotal shield. Opisthonotal region with 12–21 pairs of setae, of which 5–20 pairs on opisthonotal shield and 0–7 pairs on soft integument along lateral margins of opisthonotal shield. Seta j 1 not on prominent protuberance, shorter than or as long as r 3 and Z 5. Opisthonotal and ventrianal shields separated. With a pair of presternal platelets (two pairs in R. aegyptiacus ). Sternal shield not fused to endopodal shield near coxa IV; setae st 1– st 4 in longitudinal line. Opisthogaster without platelets between genital and ventrianal shields (with four platelets in R. costai ); with 5–7 pairs of setae on ventrianal shield and 0–2 pairs on soft integument around ventrianal shield; post-anal seta longer than para-anal seta. Peritreme with straight or smoothly curved margins, extending anteriorly to level between posterior margin of coxa II and coxa I. Peritrematal shield not fused posteriorly to exopodal shield near coxa IV (fused in R. aegyptiacus , R. brevispiritus and R. leptinochaetus ). Without exopodal shields. With 0–1 pair of elongate or rounded metapodal platelets. All legs with pretarsi or leg I without pretarsus I. Genua I, III and IV and tibia IV with 13, 9, 10 and 10 setae, respectively.
