Type material originally not stated. In his previous publication ( Buresch 1915a) from about 80 larvae collected ( Buresch 1915a: 17) 26 ♂♂ and 24 ♀♀ are mentioned as reared successfully ( Buresch 1915a: 26). The specimens kept at the museum from that first generation represent 21 ♂♂, 22 ♀♀. Additional paralectotypes exist in the col- lection at the Natural History Museum, London ( Abadjiev 2002: 8). For stability of nomenclature and following Article 74 ( ICZN 1999) the female with identifier “NMNHS-INV-T-01130” is here designated as lectotype for Doritis apollinus thracica Buresch, 1915 . Treated as a junior subjective synonym of Archon apollinus apollinus (Herbst, 1798) ( de Freina 1985: 126) .
